Beta Testing During Our Beta

As you may know, this here Razor Stubble Guys Web site is in beta. This means that while we’re up and operating, we’re doing all kinds of things to it to make sure you have the best user experience (a bit of tech lingo there) possible.

Much of the site is already performing very well, but some stuff doesn’t work all that hot. And we’re adding new features all the time to improve your visits here. Many of these new improvements, deletions and features are invisible to you, which is good.

We’ve made one big change, though, that I thought I’d tell you about:

Clipping the Wires

You can now view the site in a much more streamlined way, if you have an iPhone, iPod touch, Android or BlackBerry touch mobile device. I don’t think this works on the Blackberries that have physical keyboards on them, though — but I could be wrong about that.

Our wireless service is heavily in beta, and will very likely be tweaked over time. But it will always be there. Because we know that some guys living the Razor Stubble lifestyle will still want to be plugged in, even when they’re going wireless.

Meantime …

Forums Gone, Not Forgotten, Coming Back

We’ve temporarily removed our Forums section. Why? Because it sucked. Not the concept of Fourms, though. The actual problem is plug-in we used for the section. The whole thing was too confusing and not good for the (here’s that term again) user experience.

So we’re out and about, looking for a better Forums provider. Once we find the best, we’ll implement it and let you know. And more important, we’ll try our best not to change providers again.

Right now, we have our sign-up box on all of the pages of the Web site. That’s good for you, because it gives you all kinds of opportunities to become a member (or to use a Facebook term, a “fan”) of our site. Unfortunately, we really don’t have room to tell you why you should become a member/fan. Here’s why. You’ll have or get:

• Full access to our Fourms (when we get them back up)
• The ability to post Comments to our stories without having to fill in the box with randomly generated, nonsensical words you can’t even read sometimes — but we need to have there so we don’t get spammed (sorry ’bout that)
• Monthly e-mails (we won’t spam you on a daily, weekly or even twice-weekly basis, we promise)
• Other stuff that we promise will be great

Also, sometime between now and mid-January, we’ll be changing things a bit. We’re going to be taking down that ugly box and moving it to a separate page. So until we get the new page up, feel free to look to the right of this (and probably up a bit on the page), and register today.

While we’re getting fully up and running here at the site, we’re building a strong presence on Facebook, too. In the right-hand column here, you can see all of our activity, and if you’re a Facebook user, you can even click on the “Become a Fan” box. You can also visit our Facebook Fan Page directly by clicking here.

And even after we’re fully up and operating here, we’ll still be going strong at Facebook, too. We’ll have all kinds of Facebook-only features, contests, jokes, laughs and so on. So check us out there, too.
