More Awesomeness from Samuel Adams

I want to preface this post by saying I haven’t yet tried any of these beers. And judging by this cold/flu/whatever I have, I neither want it (right now) or could probably taste it.

Samuel Adams is rolling out a new line of beers. Even when I’m as sick as I am today, I’m always a little happier when I hear this kind of news. Even though I’m taste deprived right now, I have to say: Damn, these sound good:

The Boston Beer Company announced today the limited release of a new series of beers, the Samuel AdamsĀ® Barrel Room Collection. The release includes three oak-aged beers brewed and aged at the Samuel Adams Boston Brewery. …

Each style in the Collection is bottled in a 750ml bottle and finished with a champagne cork. Samuel Adams New World Tripel and Samuel Adams Stony Brook Red have been bottle conditioned, a process which creates an extra smooth and balanced flavor in the beer. The Samuel Adams American Kriek is left uninterrupted to maintain the rich cherry flavor from the Balaton cherries used in the brewing process. For an optimum drinking experience, the brewers at Samuel Adams recommend serving each brew in a traditional Tulip-style beer glass to best capture the beers aromas.

Unfortunately, there’s a catch. And it’s kind of a big one:

The Samuel Adams Barrel Room Collection beers are available for purchase at the Samuel Adams Boston Brewery and at select retail locations in Massachusetts; Denver, Colorado; Maine and New Hampshire for a suggested retail price of $9.99 per 750ml bottle.

C’mon, guys. You can’t just dangle a carrot like this in front of us, then yell “psych!” and take it away from 7/8ths of the country. Distribute this stuff widely. Please!

While this move just adds to the tiny bit of animosity I already have against Sam Adams — remind me to tell you about my “stuck at Logan Airport with no Sam Adams anywhere in sight” story one of these days — I nonetheless hold this brewery in high esteem. Even though Sam Adams isn’t the true microbrew that it used to be, it can still score home runs with introductions like this.
